Commit to Quit: Free 5-class group program for anyone who would like to reduce or stop their tobacco or nicotine use.

Commit to Quit is a 5-class group program for anyone who would like to reduce or stop their tobacco or nicotine use.  Learn about your triggers, setting realistic goals and how to start reducing.  Learn about behaviours that work and tips and tricks to get you on your way.  Find out about quit medications and how they might work for you.

IERHA Staff NRT Reimbursement

This program is to support IERHA staff and/or their immediate family member(s) who currently smoke and wish to quit or reduce their tobacco use.  Nicotine replacement therapy is not right for everyone.  Please discuss with your health care provider to see if NRT is right for you.  This program is sponsored by the IERHA TVC Committee, with funding from the Manitoba Government.

VAPING 101 – Modules for Middle Years

For middle years students – six vaping information modules, handouts and activities.  Five information modules can be taught in any order. Jeopardy, is a fun way to wrap up. Modules made available courtesy of Prairie Mountain Health.

Week One Module: All About Vaping    

    Power point and activities for teachers of middle years – Mechanics of vaping, types of vape products, ingredients in vape products.

    Week Two Module: Vaping 101 – the Harms 

    Power point and activities for teachers of middle years students – Health harms of nicotine dependency, harms to heart and lung, memory and thinking.

    Week Three Module: Vaping 101 – the Marketing

    Power point and activities for teachers of middle years students – Targeted marketing by tobacco industry – tactics to get youth hooked.

    Module 4: Why Do People Vape

    Power point and activities for teachers of middle years students – Why do teens vape – curiosity, influencers, social influences, stress reduction.

    Module 5: Vaping 101 – Saying “No”

    Power point and activities for teachers of middle years students – Reasons, strategies and tools to say, “no.”

    Module 6: Jeopardy

    Power point and activities for teachers of middle years students – Fun, interactive wrap-up activity.
